ABOUT US
spaceKIOSK is a
multidisciplinary architecture, research and design studio which is fascinated
with spatial apparitions and imaginaries of social, political and economic
transaction. It works at sites of access and circumvention.
Sarah de Villiers currently leads spaceKIOSK, and also co-leads GSA Unit 18 Hyperreal Prototypes, a post-graduate design studio concerning insurgencies of time and place through images, screens and spatial behaviours, in the context of post-colonial African cities. She is also a partner at Counterparts, a network platform and multidisciplinary design collective based in Johannesburg. She holds a Masters in Architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand. Sarah has taught formerly in GSA Unit 14’s Rogue Economies, worked at Mashabane Rose Associates, and had formerly contributed as a founder, director and architect at Counterspace, an all-women architecture and research firm in Johannesburg.
